A chair like this but made out of plywood, and I want it to look much more kingly.
A nice chest without treasures, but with a much more elaborate design on the outside. I am thinking I could make it a book chest or in other words a hybrid chest that also serves as an organized book shelf/storage.
The frame of the chair could not be plywood. Chairs can be tricky. The chest is a good project idea.
ReplyDeleteI will probably be doing a chest that is 14x12x16, and it will be mostly made up of plywood. More specifically, I will be getting 4 or 5 sheets of 1/2in.x2ft.x4ft sanded plywood with a B/C grade, which will cost around 47.28$-59.10$. This might seem like too much wood, but I want to have plenty of wood because I will probably make a lot of errors. For the top of the chest I want wood that is less thick than the 1/2" of the sanded plywood I am using for most of it in order for it to look less like a box which is mostly the same all around. Therefore, for the top I am going to get one sheet of sanded plywood that is 1/4in.x2ft.x2ft, which will be around 4.88$(at Home Depot).
ReplyDeleteI will also be needing 2 chest hinges(No-mortise chest hinges) to be able to open the chest top, and that will be around 16$. Lastly, when it comes to the screws and bolts that I may need my dad said I can take as many as I want from his stash, so that should not be a problem. Thus, the approximate total cost of my project will probably be ~79.98$, but there might be extra costs that I have not considered so I will expecting 100$ to be my buffer cost.

DeleteIn my final proposal I made a cut list that did not take into account the thickness of the wood, which is 3/4". Thus my new cut list will instead involve the following:
ReplyDelete2 @ 1'2" x 2'6"
2 @ 1'2" x 1'2 1/2"
2 @ 1'2 1/2" x 2'4 1/2"
The latter cut list also had to be altered because of the order and way in which I will assemble the china birch plywood chest
ReplyDeleteThe 2 @ 1'2 1/2" x 2'4 1/2" , will again be adjusted because since I am adding edge banding and the 3/4" china birch plywood sheet is 1/16" than it should be, and these things it will affect the dimensions for the front and back pieces of the chest.
