Day 3 of work

My last day of work was pretty easy. I only had to attach the lid to the body of the stool, and then I would be done.
I had picked up a piano hinge from Lowes earlier in the week, but I wasn't exactly sure how to attach it. I practiced on some scrap wood and felt good about it. The hinge had come with some little screws, but they looked too small for me, so I used some 3/4 inch ones from the shop.
I attached the hinge to the body of the stool with no problem, then had some trouble figuring out how to keep the lid held up for me to attach the hinges to it. Tim helped me clamp some scrap to hold it up, and then I screwed it together with no problem.
I thought I was going to be done, but Tim thought I should add a way to prevent the lid from opening too far and ripping out the hinge. I screwed it in, and I agree that it was a good idea. It feels a lot more secure now, and it doesn't look too different.
Overall, I feel pretty good about my stool. If I could do things differently, I would be more careful about my cuts, because it came out not quite square. I also would have tried to find a different way to construct the stool. I liked the pocket holes, but there ended up being way more than I anticipated, which looks a little weird. I anticipate filling the stool so I won't notice as much. I also made a few little mistakes like splitting a corner because I drilled too close to the edge and drilling through a side because I drilled at an angle. I feel like I learned a lot about production, and I'm excited to apply what I learned by making more things in the future!
